What it does
Ask which pages are underperforming and it ranks them by what each is costing you against pages of the same kind on your site. Give it a link and it scores the page against sixty checks across six ingredients, then gives you the findings in priority order, the quick wins and a backlog of tests to run.
It asks you a few short questions about what your brand will not do or say, so nothing it recommends breaks your rules.
When to use it
When traffic is arriving but not converting, before you redesign a page, or when you need a list of tests to run next quarter. A good first run: give it your highest-volume Meta or organic landing page, then run it again with no link to find the pages that are underperforming.
Reach for something else when:
- You don't yet know whether conversion is the problem: /diagnose-performance tells you which lever moved.
What it needs
Nothing. Give it the link to any page and it audits the page itself. To find your weakest pages without a Growth Brain, give it a Shopify export of sessions by landing page, and it ranks them by the orders each is missing.
A Crux Growth Brain adds the revenue each page is missing, traffic by channel and device, and the full funnel, so the audit starts with the step where the page loses most people.
How it works
- FindIt ranks your landing pages against pages of the same kind on your site, and recommends the one to audit first.
- PerformanceFor the chosen page it reads visits, conversion and, with a Growth Brain, the step of the funnel where the page loses most people.
- GuardrailsThree short questions: levers that are off the table, claims you can't make, and who the page is for. It offers to save the answers, so it asks only once.
- AuditIt reads every section of the page and scores it against sixty checks across six ingredients, then ranks the findings and writes the quick wins and a scored backlog of tests.
What you get
One page you can share with your team, in about five minutes: the step where the page loses most people, the scorecard, the findings in priority order, the quick wins and an ICE-scored test backlog. Where the page has the traffic for an A/B test it recommends one; where it doesn't, it recommends the change. Nothing is changed on your site.
Signs it's working
- The pages it ranks first are the ones costing you most, not just the ones with the lowest conversion.
- Every finding points at something on the page, with the evidence.
- Nothing it recommends breaks a rule you gave it.
- Each test in the backlog says what you would change and what you would read it on.
FAQs
Can it audit a page that isn't mine?
Yes, and it's a useful way to see how a competitor's page scores against yours. Without that site's data it scores the copy, the offer and the experience only; performance figures come only from your own data.
Will it ask the brand questions every time?
No. It saves your answers and skips the questions next time. If your rules change, say so and it asks again.
What about a page that isn't meant to sell, such as a stockist finder?
It reads that page on its own goal, not on online sales, and says so.
Will it change my site?
No. It hands back a page of findings; you decide what to change.
Where it fits
Audit landing pages is the conversion skill. /diagnose-performance often points here, when conversion turns out to be the lever that moved, and the test backlog it writes is what next month's /review-month checks against.
